Pack a Picnic

The weather in New York is finally  warming up. I spent all day Sunday lounging in Sheep's Meadow in Central Park and enjoying the sunshine. Whether it's in New York or LA, I love the idea of packing an old fashioned picnic, complete with a picnic basket and blanket.  Eating outside is such a pleasant thing to do when the weather is nice, and even better when you can do it with jeans rolled up and barefoot, in good company.

Coachella 2015 Style

Palihouse Santa Monica

I am completely obsessed with the architecture and decor of the new Palihouse Santa Monica, sister hotel to the older Palihouse West Hollywood. Previously operating as The Embassy Hotel Apartments, the building was built in 1927 and is a historic Santa Monica landmark. It dates back to a time when Santa Monica was the last Los Angeles rail stop where travelers came from all over to vacation by the beach. The architecture is Moorish-influenced Mediterranean Revival, which is unique to see by the beach but also fits into the eclectic landscape of Santa Monica.

My Favorite LA Restaurants

It's dreary New York days like these that I most miss dining al fresco at my favorite restaurants back home in LA. It's not as if New York City lacks a great restaurant scene - but after a weekend of heavy eating in stuffy restaurants, I miss grabbing a casual bite at some of my LA go-to's like La Scala for their infamous chopped salads, Kogi BBQ Korean tacos, Reddi Chick rotisserie chicken and french fries, or Bay Cities godmother sandwiches.
