Egg Shop vs. Egg Slut
It seems like for the last couple of months my Instagram feed has been infiltrated by photos of eggs. Poached eggs, eggs over quinoa, fried egg sandwiches, egg on top of avocado toast, etc. The egg craze certainly extends between coasts as first, Eggslut opened in Grand Central Market in DTLA and then just this year, Egg Shop opened on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In terms of which restaurant I think is better, I'm impartial. My favorite dish at Egg Shop was the "Spandex" which consists of a poached egg over miso quinoa with greens, avocado, and pickled quinoa. The most popular dish at Eggslut is the "Fairfax" - soft scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun. Whether you're LA or NY based, both are eggceptional and definitely worth checking out!

Palihouse Santa Monica
I am completely obsessed with the architecture and decor of the new Palihouse Santa Monica, sister hotel to the older Palihouse West Hollywood. Previously operating as The Embassy Hotel Apartments, the building was built in 1927 and is a historic Santa Monica landmark. It dates back to a time when Santa Monica was the last Los Angeles rail stop where travelers came from all over to vacation by the beach. The architecture is Moorish-influenced Mediterranean Revival, which is unique to see by the beach but also fits into the eclectic landscape of Santa Monica.

Need This Book
Designed by Urs Fischer and written by New York-based chef, Mina Stone, whose clients are primarily artists and galleries. Stone supposedly creates dishes based on color theory - a chef after my own heart!
All You Can Eat Press
I just discovered the independent, Brooklyn-based publisher, All You Can Eat Press. The company specializes in food related printed subjects such as a "New York Burger Map" of the city's best places to get hamburgers, and a similar map for doughnuts and ramen.
I love the company's statement:
All-You-Can-Eat Press is a Brooklyn-based independent publishing company that celebrates everyday food for everyday people. United by a mutual love for vernacular eats and the unique flavor of the surrounding local culture, its founders follow their hearts (and stomachs) to find new favorite dishes, restaurants, and specialty shops, then serve them up in brightly wrapped, easily-digestible portions to food lovers everywhere.
All You Can Eat Press also makes wonderful limited edition food objects. I'd like to have a few of these to display on my bookshelf.

Parrot Tulips
My new favorite trend in floral design is a cluster of green and white Parrot Tulips in a simple vase. They are a beautiful variety with fringed petals that resemble the feathers of the tropical bird they are named after. Their season is just beginning, so pick up a bunch for an elegant statement on a dining or bedside table.
